Currently working my way through this book. It feels like it was written by a secretary who was writing this in their spare time. I've noticed a few spelling errors and gaps in instruction. I'll grant that this doesn't take away from learning but it does present a challenge
This book actually is alot of fun. The sentences contain that dry British wit and are sometimes just outlandish and outrageous. This is the only book on the market that includes answers to the exercises in case you get stuck. The Gregg Manual Simplified assumes you have a teacher or a class to assist you. I found the dictation CD to this book to be invaluable- maddening but useful. As the book states at the beginning, "shorthand exerts its own fascination, so much the better." Shorthand does require 100's of hours of practice but the book does not make it feel like drudgery.
I bought this e-book as a review because I wanted to do notes faster than long hand. It's a good starter book. It would be even better if the author or publisher provided and intermediate to advance primer as a follow up.
I have always wanted to study shorthand. I found several books on amazon.com that would help me achieve this goal. I'm just starting, but the book is easy to follow, understand and use for practicing. thank you all

Brings back memories of High School
Shorthand is one of the most interesting books I have read. It helps one to develop writing skills that will allow one to always look back at what they had discover when studying this Pitman Shorthand. Very good book!
Definitely a good starter book and handy for reference. As the author points out you must put aside a little time each day to practice. Would recommend to a beginner.
