If you are a Walton fan, you will love this book and want it.. Earl Hamner goes into the story of how the best how came to be. There are behind the scenes stories, and an episode guide of each show with comments from the cast, supporting actors, and fans.
This is not a tell-all. This is a lovely tribute to the show, with Earl's voice describing how the show was created from Earl's childhood to the book, Spencer's Mountain, to the film, and then to the television special "The Homecoming" which became the inspiration for the series. A foreward by Richard Thomas speaks for the whole "Waltons Clan" in a loving tribute to Earl, and warm memories of how he got the role as John-Boy. The text only takes up the first few chapters, and then there is a guide to each season, each episode with comments from cast, writers, directors, and fans about each episode. If you are a true fan of the show, you will appreciate every word of this book and treasure it.
I love The Waltons, and I LOVED this book. It has pictures of the real family. It has pictures of the actors that portrayed the family. It has comments from the actors. If you love The Waltons, you will love this book!HIGHLY recommend.
For all Walton fans a must. Great pictures and stories of their lives. I have the DVD's as well. Learned how to be a family by their great examples.

This is a great book to have if you are a "Waltons" fan! It has some terrific photos throughout the book. It tells you about the episode and then gives you some insight from the actors, directors, writers and/or families. Richard Thomas has written a Foreword. Chapter one tells about Earl Hamners family and shows pictures. There is a chapter on The Waltons Mountain Museum. The appendix tells the names of the cast on - Spencer's Mountain, The Homecoming, and The Waltons. I really enjoyed it and I believe everyone else will too.
I have recently started watching the reruns of The Waltons on tv, re-living such good memories of my youth. But I found myself with questions about some of the actors, both regulars and guests who appeared on the show. I found this book, and liked the fact that it broke down the show episode by episode. It tells the back story from the actors viewpoints. as well as commentaries from the actual Hamner family members who were the inspiration for the show, or stories from the writer's of the episode. It will give you such a clearer perspective of the show and give you tidbits that help you enjoy the stories even more.
