I want to start by saying two things: first; this is my first story by this author (and not my last), and second MC books are by far my favorite. I tend to love the hard core, dark, alpha MC books that leave a dirty film on me as a reader. If that is your type also, this is not it, this is the complete opposite and it works beautifully! I loved this story and was completely surprised that I could melt into a gooey sweet mess from a MC book.This is the story of an MC President and the sweet waitress that he falls for. Devlin is older (mid-twenties) and he has been in lust/love with Kaylie (18 years old) for a few years. He is determined to make her his old lady but did the correct thing and waited until she was of age and had graduated high school. He has been waiting for two years. This is not your typical MC story in that there is little violence and so much sweet romance that I didn’t need to eat dessert after dinner! I loved that Devlin tried his best to be a gentleman; I truly believed that even though he was sweet and caring that he was also hard and dangerous. I also really enjoyed that Devlin got Kaylie’s mother involved before he courted her so that she was fully aware of his intentions. Without giving away too much my favorite scene was the diner one (near the end of the story) with the club and the sheriff. It was a perfect portrayal of the power of the club, the unique wisdom of Devlin, and the true feelings between Devlin and Kaylie. I am just so excited about this story. I loved it completely and look forward to reading more. I received this story as an ARC, but ended up buying it because it was such a great fun, loving story!
Great rewrite. The characters were lovable, and relatable. I want to to Maes for a banana split too. I can't wait for the other books of this trilogy.
I've read all of Miss Blake's books. This was a fun change up. Loved the stories, maybe in part because I'm a sucker for Bad boys on bikes. These were fast and fun reads with HEAs that make you happy for the couples.
This is my second time reading this book, I had started the series well over a year ago and wanted to refresh before reading the new release. Devlin is the president of the MC club and knows exactly what he wants or should I say who he wants. Kaylie is too young and innocent for Devlin so he waits two years, protecting her from a distance and assisting her mother in ways that he would if she were already part of his life.I really enjoyed this book, and my only issue is that it was too short!! I would have loved to read a bit more from when Kaylie was still underage, especially her interactions with Devlin’s brother. Maybe a little more about Devlin and his MC being in the background of Kaylie’s life with her mother. I wasn’t ready for the book to end, but I know there is more to come in the other books in the series! On to book two!!
Simply put....exhilarating and beyond. What this book gives you is a fantastic MC romance with depth and a "real" feel. I loved the storyline! Such emotion and even though the read was short, it was packed full of everything you need for a great read. I don't do spoilers, but can tell you that you'll fall in love with the characters and the author takes you down a memory lane tale of love that is in its truest form.
I enjoyed it. Hero was the leader of a biker club. He sees heroine and claims her from get go. However, she is not of age so he sets his eyes on her and waits until she is of age. Once she is he goes to claim her. However, things are not all sweet in this MC romance. Hero has enemies, that include law. I addition, since heroine is with him she is also target to these enemies. Will they come out on top when the smoke clears? Will heroine take chance and stand by hero during the tough times?In this book heroine is protected, sweet, caring and innocent. Hero is the last thing someone would want for someone like her, but he is not one to take no. He is dominant and goes after what he wants. There were OW before he finally hook up with heroine. Once they are together he stays loyal. I enjoyed the book. I have read it twice. It ends with HEA. Part series but can be read standalone. It is not a sweet romance. However, it is a safe read. Would recommend if you like MC books.
This was my first book by Joanna Blake and I truly enjoyed it. Dev was straightforward and knew what and who he wanted. Kaylie was sweet and innocent but didn't hold her tongue so she didn't get pushed around. Dev was thoughtful and loving and I loved how he explained how he first saw her and why he was there. I already have the second and third books so I'm ready to dig in with the next story.
