This is a very solid guide for any denomination. It provides a wealth of guidance, checklists, and references. We have relied on this as our central plan for two very different campaigns over the last two years with excellent results. This also provides good material for training new people to work in the stewardship process over the years. The only things that would make it better would be if it were available in a loose leaf format and if the sample forms were available either on a companion CD or on line. Overall, this is a real winner.
Mr. Clark has organized the philosophy and details of well conducted stewardship drives beyond the budget drive to include inviting constituents to participate in the activities of the congregation. We are following his thoughts and conducting a Time and Talent drive BEFORE we conduct our Treasure drive (three components of good stewardship).
An essential guide to Unitarian Universalist stewardship -- a mentality based on abundance, not scarcity, and practices based on personal connections, not asking for money.I would have liked some quantitative evidence or shared experiences -- perhaps before and after budgets, or testimonials about whether money became less a source of stress, or fundraising was easier and more successful. These would make it an easier "sell" and made volunteer recruiting more powerful -- but after a year, I expct we'll have our own examples.Highly recommended despite this limitation! It is easy to read, organized, and focused, so folks can get inspired by reading only one or two short chapters.
Book is full of great info--unless your church has less than 100+ members. Not for small churches.
Has good info to start a year-round stewardship program. Lots of "think about it" questions, timelines, and charts/worksheets to help outline your efforts.
This book has helped me understand the difference between fundraising and stewardship. This is recommended reading for those involved in helping their church raise awareness of stewardship.
