Whether you are a parent, an employer, or a church leader, it's critical to acknowledge the role millennials play in the future of the church. Grant Skeldon equips us not only to understand this generation but also to connect with them in deep and meaningful relationships. (Craig Groeschel, pastor, Life.Church; New York Times bestselling author)Insightful and inspiring, engaging and enlightening, here's a much needed peek into what animates the largely misunderstood millennial generation. Thanks, Grant, for helping us understand the heart of these passionate young people. If you are interested in the future of the church, you need to read this book, and if you are interested in the 'right now' of the church, you need to read this book! (Dave Ferguson, lead pastor, Community Christian Church; author, Hero Maker)Grant has quite possibly written the most poignant book on discipleship in our time. He puts language to things I've always felt but have had trouble articulating. This book should be required reading for every Christ follower. (Bryan Loritts, lead pastor, Abundant Life Christian Fellowship; author, Insider/Outsider)This is so much more than a book--it is a critical brick in bridging a generation gap, finally creating the possibility for not only more understanding but also more unity, and therefore a stronger global church. This book is incredible! Truly!!! I’m so thankful you took the time to write this. You have beautifully and poignantly expressed what those of us who are craving a unified, disciple-making church believe. I have felt many of these things but had no idea how to communicate them. You have simply but eloquently shared what God has written on my heart. I also love the accompanying video illustrations. I am very much a visual learner...so that was helpful! One of my favorite statements in the book is the following:The church can no longer bank on just providing content and a message as their main commodity, because my generation can google content all day. The value of content is at an all-time low in this digital world. This is impacting colleges, the publishing industry, and even the church. You don’t need to go to church to get content. Millennials can live-stream a message, download a podcast, or watch a YouTube video, but there’s still no app for genuine connection and life-on-life discipleship. That’s what the church can provide that the world can’t.Grant Skeldon, "The Passion Generation", p. 65

Truly, we cannot leave a whole generation behind. And we can learn how to engage and include them. Our work is with churches nationwide, and this resource is one we are incorporating into our consulting portfolio for every church and pastoral staff. The book is full of useful information that any church or parent can incorporate immediately to begin reaching out to and caring for Millennials. Dig in today!
Grant does an excellent job of helping others understand millennials and how the older generations can engage, disciple, and empower millennials. This book serves as a bridge for generations and as a to put into action the great commission. In short, this is a great book on how to disciple, understand, and engage millennials.
Have you ever noticed the titles attributed to younger generations? Whippersnapper, punk, kid, millennial. I don’t know about you, but I don’t know what half of those words actually mean. What is a “snapper†and why would I be whipping it? Punk is a music genre and not one that I completely enjoy. I understand why everyone is a “kid,†yet are we allowed to be more than just a “kid And, at this point, the title of “millennial†has been equated to a generation that can be praised or panned for their cultural disconformity. Grant Skeldon, through his book “The Passion Generation,†calls for a reform to the Great Commission in the church. Grant pleads for church leaders, employers, parents and older generations to listen and be involved in the lives of millennials. He appeals to Millennials to recognize their need for the church and be willing to learn from others. And He prays that the church culture can expand outside of its four walls, as to reach across generational, cultural, racial and socio-economic barriers.“The Passion Generation†is a book about missions. The call to missions is not only to cross national lines but to cross the road in our city. Grant argues that the Great Commission points to the need to reach out and make disciples, not only by leading a Bible study, or by lecturing once a week in church, but rather by demonstrating what a God-fearing life looks like. With ample examples and a myriad of stories, Grant effectively argues how the current understanding of discipleship needs to be revisited. Millennials need to be lead throughout their lives, not by YouTube personalities, Facebook friend, or famous Tweets, but rather by believers who want to pass the faith on to the next generation. Grant gives a handbook for how believers can disciple younger generations, while also challenging millennials to approach others with an attitude of humility. This book has challenged me, as a millennial, as well as a believer, to revisit my views of the church, culture and the Great Commission. If you have a chance, find some time to read this book. It will hook you, take you to the Bible, and graciously challenge your current way of viewing the church and the work of discipleship. This book speaks to parents, ministry or business leaders, millennials, and even to this whippersnapper punk of a kid.
Finally! A book that’s full of solutions. It’s easy to complain or criticize... especially one generation about another. But Grant takes the time to recognize differences, celebrate them, and plead with the chronologically superior to disciple and harness the qualities that set millennials apart. He provides practical framework to point them towards being difference-makers in the world. Inter-generational teamwork is what will catalyze change. No matter your age, there’s a section in this book for you (there’s even a good amount of pictures for all those visual learners out there!). 100% recommend this book! Don’t wait. Add to your cart right now.
The Passion Generation addresses the disconnect between generations and offers a thoughtful, practical, and biblical solution! This book is lovingly convicting, thought provoking and encouragingly challenges you to get up and put the Great Commission first in your life. If you’re a millennial wanting to understand your peers (or yourself), a pastor wanting to understand your current/future leaders, or a business leader wanting to retain the largest portion of your workforce, then this book is for you!
